Count Down

Well, as fate and circumstances beyond my control the release of my book Getting Hers is being delayed by a couple of weeks. At first I was really bummed out about it. But then I realized that there was light at the end of the tunnel. With more time, it will give me the opportunity to get the buzz out, hopefully get folks interested in it ... like they do with the movies... you keep seeing trailers until you are almost committed to seeing the movie. The same thing just before a CD drops. So I figure I will use my time wisely... look at my options and make the most of it.

I like that idea of looking at building an audience for books in the same way as CDs or films. It makes sense, because it's an artistic product that people will hopefully consume or purchase.

I know there's often the debate among authors over the whole "I'm a writer, not a marketer" versus the "I wrote it and want everybody to know about it" issues.

There's definitely room for both, but I think there would be a lot more readers in general if books got the same type of publicity and buzz treatment as CDs and films. It would definitely reach "new" readers rather than those of us who go to bookstores all the time.

At least you've got a little more time to build your buzz for the new title. That's cool.
